How many areas can you treat in liposuction session?

For many people, fat never tends to accumulate in just one area of the body. Some of the most common regions for fat buildup include the abdomen, hips, back, thighs, arms, neck, and chin. Luckily, liposuction can often be an effective solution for diminishing excess fat in each of these areas. But just how many of these regions can be treated at once?

While there is no steadfast limit to how many areas can be treated in one liposuction session, most sessions tend to include a maximum of three to four areas. However, regardless of the number of areas treated, most plastic surgeons generally limit fat removal to five liters per session for the patient’s safety. Every patient and liposuction procedure is unique and the specific details of your liposuction treatment plan will depend upon the expertise of your surgeon and your desired results.

Liposuction is designed to provide targeted fat reduction in a localized area. It is not a weight loss method. If you would like to reduce fat across the entire body, or a significant portion of it, a weight loss program may better suit your goals. If after losing weight you discover that some areas resist diet and exercise, liposuction may be able to provide the results you desire.

Ultimately, liposuction is an incredibly individualized procedure, so the exact number of treatment sessions needed to address all problem areas will vary by individual.
