Kybella
Tired of your double chin? Kybella may be the answer! Kybella is the only FDA-approved injectable that actually melts away fat under the chin. This results is an improved chin/neck contour. Kybella is made of deoxycholic acid which melts away fat cells. Our bodies actually produce deoxycholic acid which assists in the absorption of dietary fats.
The Kybella treatment is administered by one of our board certified plastic surgeons here in the office at Sound Plastic Surgery. The entire treatment takes only 20 minutes. This includes the application of a numbing cream under the chin to help with discomfort that we let sit in place for about 10 minutes to take full effect. Once the skin has been numbed, we then inject the Kybella, using a tiny needle, into the fat under the chin. Ice is applied afterwards.
Most patients will experience a bit of swelling after the injections, as well as some numbness that goes away. Discomfort is minimal, and there is no "down time."
After 4-6 weeks, we see our patients back and another Kybella treatment is offered, if indicated. Most patients require 2-4 treatments to obtain the full effect.
Good candidates for Kybella have a small to moderate amount of fat under the chin and good skin tone. Patients with a lot of fat under the chin and a lot of neck fat may be best treated with neck liposuction. Additionally, patients with a lot of neck skin laxity may be best treated with a neck lift. Our plastic surgeons will evaluate you carefully, and let you know whether Kybella, liposuction, or a necklift would best meet your goals.
