Tummy Tuck

It’s rather common for patients who have had children, undergone bariatric surgery, or otherwise lost a considerable amount of weight, to experience excess sagging skin around the abdominal area. The abdominal muscles may also be weakened and can separate in the midline. After finally achieving a goal weight, a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) can aid our patients in looking as good on the outside, as they feel on the inside! It starts with a low horizontal incision just above the pubic region. The weakened muscles are tightened underneath, which creates a more compact and flat contour. After pulling the abdominal skin down, the excess skin is trimmed and the remaining skin is sutured together. Liposuction of the waist is often added at the time of the tummy tuck to further define the abdomen.  This outpatient procedure can take up to three hours to complete and is performed under general anesthesia in an accredited surgery center. Scars are well hidden under underwear/bathing suits, the belly button looks more youthful, and the new abdominal contour appears flatter and much more fit!  Results are permanent and life changing!  Recovery time is expected to last only two to three weeks.
