Background
Dr. Sattler was raised in Clayton, California, a small town in Northern California. His Dad was a mechanical engineer and his Mother was a school teacher. He attended college at the University of California, San Diego and studied Molecular Biology and Health Care Ethics. Dr. Sattler is married, and has a wonderful family with two teen-aged children. His personal interests include cycling, 4WD exploration and camping, and fitness. For many years, Dr. Sattler has been a trip leader and medical consultant with the Northwest Overland Society, which plans and leads vehicle-based off-road exploration trips all over the United States and Canada.
Medical School and Surgical Training
Dr. Sattler attended George Washington University Medical School in Washington DC. He graduated with honors and was elected into Alpha Omega Alpha, an honorary medical society for students that have excelled academically. In 1997 Dr. Sattler moved to Seattle, WA to start his General Surgery training at the University of Washington. After General Surgery residency, he was an active duty General Surgeon in the US Navy. After leaving the military, he completed his Plastic Surgery residency training at Oregon Health Sciences University, in Portland OR. Dr. Sattler has completed a total of seven years of post-graduate surgical training.
Board Certification
Dr. Sattler is a board-certified Plastic Surgeon with the American Board of Plastic Surgery, a recognized medical specialty within the American Board of Medical Specialties. He received his initial board certification in 2009 and re-certification in 2019. He is an active member of the Amiercan Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).
Awards
Dr. Sattler is a current Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). He’s also an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). Dr. Sattler has been recognized in the local surgical community for excellence in Plastic Surgery and has also received the Seattle Met Magazine ‘Top Doctor’ award for Plastic Surgery. Lastly, Dr. Sattler has been included in the RealSelf.com Hall of Fame for Plastic Surgery.
Medical Service Missions
Dr. Sattler has served the communities of Vietnam as a Plastic Surgeon with Healing the Children, a Seattle based care organization. He performs craniofacial cleft surgery, congenital hand surgery and burn reconstruction surgery on these medical mission trips.
