A lower blepharoplasty, or lower eyelid surgery, is a cosmetic procedure that addresses “baggy” under eye skin, as well as excessive under eye wrinkles, and/or asymmetrical lower lids. Due to the natural aging process, genetics, and other factors, we lose laxity and dermal structure that keeps our skin uniform and taut. Removing any excess fatty deposits and repositioning the skin can smooth out the surrounding orbital area, creating a more youthful appearance. Our surgeons prefer to use the transconjuctival approach, as it’s aesthetically superior to other methods and doesn’t leave an external scar on the lower eyelid.
